David LYONS and Esther HOOVER family

David LYONS was born about 1814 in Pennsylvania. His parents are unknown.

David married Esther HOOVER on 19 December 1833 in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Esther was born 14 September 1814 and her parents are unknown.

David and Esther lived in Strasburg and East Donegal, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania until about 1860. They then moved to Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

David died after a revolving pulley caught his arm and threw him across the paint shop of the Toledo, Wabash & Western Railway Company where he worked. His arm was “wrenched” off and his legs and ribs were broken. He still survived for a few hours before he died on 18 November 1870 at his home in Toledo.

Esther died on 7 June 1902 in Toledo.

David and Esther had at least 10 children, all born in Pennsyvlania.

  2. Peter H LYONS born 1 Sep 1837 and died 30 Aug 1934. He married Mary Ann and Anna.
  3. Frances LYONS born about 1839.
  4. Esther LYONS born about 1842.
  5. Elmira LYONS born about 1845.
  6. Anna Mary LYONS born 19 Jul 1848 and died 6 Jan 1929. She married John HAHNLEN.
  7. Jacob Z LYONS born 27 May 1851 and died 2 Oct 1927. He married Lorinda PARTEE.
  8. David H LYONS born 6 Mar 1854 and died 9 Oct 1912. He married Matilda KECK.
  9. John LYONS born about 1858.
  10. Esther LYONS born about 1860.

    Jacob Z LYONS and Lorinda PARTEE family

    Jacob Z LYONS was born 27 May 1851 in Pennsylvania. He was the son of David LYONS and Esther HOOVER. The family moved from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania to Lucas County, Ohio.

    Jacob married Lorinda PARTEE on 18 December 1871 in Lucas County, Ohio.

    Lorinda was born in Defiance County, Ohio on 6 September 1851 to Henry PARTEE and Mary GIER.

    Jacob died on 2 October 1927 in Adams Township, Lucas County, Ohio. Lorinda died on 5 January 1937 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

    Jacob and Lorinda had 9 children, all born in Toledo:

      John LYONS and Ruth SACO 1919 Marriage

      John LYONS and Ruth SACO were first married in 1910 in Lucas County, Ohio. They divorced, but were remarried on 9 July 1919 in Monroe County, Michigan.

      John LYONS and Ruth SACO family

      John Lyons was born 22 September 1890 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He was the son of Jacob Z LYONS and Lorinda PARTEE.

      John married Ruth SACO on 13 June 1910 in Lucas County, Ohio.

      Ruth SACO was the daughter of Charles H SACO and Sophia MARTIN. She was born 18 April 1889 in St. Mary’s, Auglaize County, Ohio.

      By 1914, Ruth was living with her parents and John was not found in the Toledo city directories. John and Ruth had apparently divorced, because on 9 July 1919, they were remarried in Monroe County, Michigan.

      John served in World War I.

      Ruth and John had divorced a second time by 1930. In the 1930 census, John was living with his mother in Adam Township, Lucas County, Ohio and Ruth was living with their children in Toledo.

      John married Susie Agnes SLATER. They had one child. He lived in Delta, Fulton County, Ohio during his later life. He died there on 28 March 1968 and was buried in Lyons Cemetery (no known link between the cemetery and the Lyons family) in Fulton County.

      Ruth lived in Toledo for the rest of her life. She died on 5 January 1977.

      John LYONS and Ruth SACO had two children:
