Thomas COLBURN and Alice ONEIL family

After the death of Thomas COLBURN’s first wife, Cornelia, he remarried on 12 October 1868 in Lucas County, Ohio to Alice O’NEIL. The family lived in Toledo for a few years, then went back to Thomas’ home in Oswego, Oswego County, New York, and then finally returned to Toledo.

Alice was born about 1848 in Canada. Thomas and Alice had 3 daughters. By 1910, the widow Alice and her 3 daughters had moved to Los Angeles, California. Alice died there on 22 September 1916.

The daughters of Thomas and Alice were:
Sarah Alice COLBURN was born 17 Jul 1869 in Ohio. She married Herman J MIDDAUGH (1867-abt 1909) in Lucas County, Ohio. She died 19 January 1953 in Los Angeles, California.

Lucille COLBURN was born 20 Apr 1871 in New York. She never married and died in Ventura, California on 5 July 1958.

Olive Niles COLBURN was born 5 February 1875 in Lucas County, Ohio. She married Henry Archibald RICHARDSON. She died in Los Angeles, California on 2 November 1955.

Thomas S COLBURN and Cornelia HUBBARD family

Thomas S COLBURN was born about 1842 in New York. His parents were Thomas COLBURN and Julia NILES. By June of 1860, he had married Cornelia HUBBARD and they were living in Oswego, Oswego County, New York. Thomas served from 5 January 1861 to 20 October 1862 at a private in Company B of the 24th New York Volunteer Infantry. He was injured and started to receive a pension on 21 January 1863. He joined the 184th New York Infantry on 1 September 1864 and served until 29 June 1865.

Cornelia was born around 1844 in New York and died before 1866.

By 1866, Thomas had moved to Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He worked in a bakery for a few years. On 12 October 1868, he married Alice O’NEIL. The family moved back to Oswego in 1870, but returned to Toledo in 1873. Thomas would become a confectioner with his own store.

Thomas died around 1881. His widow, Alice, started receiving his civil war pension in January 1882.

Thomas and Cornelia had one daughter, Emma. She was born 4 October 1861 in Oswego. She married Michael CARR on 13 November 1877 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. She also married William LINDSEY and Willis M DAILEY. She died on 9 April 1943 in Toledo and was buried in Forest Cemetery.

Emma COLBURN CARR LINDSEY DAILEY CARR death certificate

Emma COLBURN died 9 April 1943 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. On her death certificate, she is listed as the widow of Michael CARR. No mention is made of her second marriage to William LINDSEY or third marriage to Willis M DAILEY.

Emma COLBURN’s additional marriages

After the death of her first husband, Michael CARR, in 1887, Emma COLBURN married William LINDSEY. They were married on 3 January 1888 in Lucas County, Ohio.

They had one child together, Harold W LINDSEY. In the 1896 Toledo City Directory, Emma is listed as the widow of William LINDSEY. But when Emma marries for a third time in 1900, she is listed as divorced.

On 26 September 1900, Emma married Willis M DAILEY. In the 1904 Toledo directory, she is listed as the widow of Willis. By 1908, Emma is once again using the CARR name, so she may have divorced Willis as well. They had no children together.

Harold W LINDSEY was born 28 Jan 1895 in Sylvania Township, Lucas County, Ohio. He married Carrie M WARNKA in Lucas County, Ohio on 25 June 1915. They had divorced by the time of his death on 20 January 1971 in Toledo. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.

By age 14, Harold was using the CARR surname. He lists Michael CARR as his father at the time of his marriage.

Michael CARR and Emma COLBURN family

Michael CARR was born about 1855 in Ohio. He married Emma COLBURN on 13 November 1877 in Lucas County, Ohio. Emma was the daughter of Thomas COLBURN and Cornelia HUBBARD. She was born 4 October 1861 ini Oswego, Oswego County, New York.

Michael and Emma lived in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio and had 4 sons. Michael died on 8 March 1887 in Toledo. Emma died on 9 April 1943 in Toledo after two more marriages.

Their children were:
Ernest CARR was born 27 January 1879 in Toledo. He married Clara HAUSMANN (1878-1938) around 1902. He died 11 March 1930 in Toledo and was buried in Calvary Cemetery.

Albert John CARR was born 17 February 1883 in Toledo. He married Alice F HANF (1882-1942) around 1903. He died 14 March 1927 in Toledo and was buried in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Michael James CARR was born 6 November 1887 in Toledo. He died 21 August 1919 in Toledo and was buried in Detroit, Michigan.

Max Colburn CARR was born 14 July 1880 in Toledo. He married Rose VAN NORMAN (1881-1906) on 26 December 1898 in Lucas County, Ohio. He married second Lovina S WRIGHT on 7 September 1909 in Lucas County, Ohio. He married third Carrie. He died on 25 September 1960 in Toledo.
