Carson DEWESE and Esther CARR family

Carson DEWESE was born 15 March 1905 in Ohio. His parents were Harry Clyde DEWESE and Delilah AKE. He married Esther CARR on 1 May 1926 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. Esther was born 21 February 1906 in Ohio to Ernest CARR and Clara HAUSMANN. Carson died on 1 August 1976 in Toledo. Esther died on 29 November 1978 in Toledo.

They had one daughter:

Betty Lou DEWESE was born 18 September 1927 in Toledo. She married Frank Carl ELLIS. She died 28 July 2011 in Swanton, Lucas County, Ohio.

Levi SHOWALTER and Sarah WATKINS Marriage

Levi Showalter married Sarah WATKINS, the widow of Thomas DEWESE on 15 April 1858 in Hancock County.

Thomas DEWESE and Sarah WATKINS family

Thomas DEWESE was born 4 Mary 1809 in Pennsylvania. On 26 October 1830 he married Sarah WATKINS in Wayne County, Ohio. Sarah was born 18 July 1811 in Ohio to Thomas WATKINS and Susannah MILLER.

Thomas and Sarah moved to Hancock County, Ohio in 1836. In 1841, Thomas was a Justice of the Peace.

On 13 April 1853, Thomas died. His widow, Sarah, married Levi Showalter on 15 April 1858 in Hancock County. She died on 31 March 1881 and was buried in Clymer Cemetery in Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio.

Thomas and Sarah had 9 children of which only 2 survived childhood:

Mary A DEWESE was born 12 February 1833. She died 21 March 1841. She was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Flavius DEWESE was born 17 January 1835 in Wayne County, Ohio. He married his stepsister, Susannah SHOWALTER, on 1 January 1860 in Hancock County. He died 17 July 1911 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. He was buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.

Susannah DEWESE was born 25 May 1837 and died 20 May 1843. She was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Thomas DEWESE was born 21 June 1839 and died 2 January 1840. He was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Eve DEWESE was born 30 August 1843. She married John BOOKMILLER on 27 October 1861 in Hancock County, Ohio. She died 8 November 1882 in Findlay, Hancock County, Ohio.

Elizabeth DEWESE was born 26 December 1845. She died 20 June 1846 and was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Adam DEWESE was Elizabeth’s twin brother. He was born 26 December 1845 and died 17 June 1846. He was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Sarah J DEWESE was born about 1847. She was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Francis M DEWESE was born about 1850. He was buried in Clymer Cemetery.

Flavius DEWESE married Susannah SHOWALTER on 1 January 1860 in Hancock County, Ohio.

Flavius DEWESE and Susanah SHOWALTER family

Flavius DEWESE was born 17 January 1835 in Wayne County, Ohio to Thomas DEWESE and Sarah WATKINS. By 1840, the family had moved to Hancock County, Ohio. His father died in 1853 and his mother married Levi SHOWALTER in 1858.

Levi and his first wife Mahala WADE had a daughter Susannah Darlisca SHOWALTER on 1 October 1844. Mahala died in 1857.

On 1 January 1860, Flavius DEWESE married his step-sister, Susannah SHOWALTER in Hancock County, Ohio. On 13 September 1862, Flavius joined Company G, 118th Regiment Ohio Infantry. He was approved for his civil war pension on 28 June 1880. Flavius and Susannah lived in Hancock County until 1899 when they moved to Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.

Flavius died on 17 July 1911 in Toledo. Susannah died on 22 April 1922 in Toledo. They were buried in Woodlawn Cemetery.

They had 8 children:

Victoria A DEWESE was born 17 January 1866 and died 28 December 1862. She was buried in Clymer Cemetery in Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio.

Sanford Howell DEWESE was born 6 May 1866. He married Bertha E STRATTON on 7 March 1886. She died 4 months later. He then married Mary Rosa ANDERSON on 8 August 1891 in Hancock County. Sanford died on 27 July 1936 in Toledo.

Milton Orvill DEWESE was born 4 June 1868.

Alvin Virgil DEWESE was born 3 March 1871 in Orange Township, Hancock County, Ohio. He married Mary Florence KELLY on 17 May 1898 in Hancock County. He died 1954 and was buried in Clymer Cemetery in Union Township, Hancock County, Ohio.

Grace E DEWESE was born 25 January 1875 in Hancock County, Ohio. She married Joseph N MCVEY on 2 February 1890 in Hancock County. She died 1 January 1951 in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio.

Francis M DEWESE was born 11 October 1876 in Hancock County, Ohio. He married Bertha E BASSETT on 24 December 1904 in Lucas County, Ohio. He died 2 March 1965 in Toledo.

Harry Clyde DEWESE was born 28 November 1881 in Hancock County, Ohio. He married Delilah AKE on 15 January 1902 in Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan. He died on 14 January 1963 in Toledo.

Harry Clyde DEWESE and Delilah AKE marriage

Harry Clyde DEWESE and Delilah AKE were married on 15 January 1902 in Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan. Although they were both living in with their families in Toledo, Ohio, they crossed the border to marry. Harry was 20 years old at the time and Delilah was just 16 years old.

Just over four months after their marriage, they welcomed their first child. Kenneth Roland DEWESE was born in April of 1902.
